MEATRACK
Wheeled rack for transporting a number of pre-rigged six-lamp bars or lanterns.

MEMORY BOARD
An electronic storage device which enables recording and subsequent "playback" of lighting states.

METAL HALIDE LAMP
An HID light source in which radiation from a mixture of metallic vapors produces visible light, characterized by a white color.

MICROPROCESSOR
The small computer inside many of Ryger's products that controls the way the unit works.

MIDI (MUSICAL INSTRUMENT DIGITAL INTERFACE)

  • Musical Digital Interface control protocol. Allows lighting controllers to respond to midi signals to execute control commands over lighting equipment.
  • The method of communication between digital musical instruments e.g. keyboards, drum machines and sequencers.
  • A serial control protocol designed to allow musical devices such as keyboards and synthesizers to share musical information. Many lighting manufacturers have provided a means by which lighting devices can respond to specific MIDI signals. MIDI-show-control, an extension to MIDI, defines a standard way in which simple cue execution commands specific to show controllers can exchange information through MIDI systems.

MIDI-SHOW CONTROL (MSC)
A subset of MIDI sytem exclusive commands which contai instructions relative to lighting, scenery, and other show controllers. The most common MSC commands are go, stop, and fire.
